Freely creative work from Finnish saxophonist Juhani Aaltonen -- easily one of the most "out" sessions we've heard on the Love label, but also a record that has some of the strongly soulful undercurrents as other Love sessions. Juhani's working here with a shifting array of musicians on each track -- sometimes playing in a spare or solo mode, other times stepping out with a fuller group. Drummer Edward Vesala turns in excellent work on nearly every track on the set -- playing forcefully, yet spaciously alongside Aaltonen's bold lines on tenor sax and flute -- and other instrumentation includes guitar, viola, and moog. The set's mostly acoustic, with a few electric touches from time to time -- and tracks include "Fountain", "But Not For Me", "Summer", "Bhanki", "Perhaps", and "Ettiquette". © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc.
